David Lean Cinema campaign announces January film dates in Croydon
10:00am Wednesday 9th January 2013 in Freetime
A host of films will be on show throughout January courtesy of the David Lean Cinema Campaign, writes Andy Bloss.
The campaign presented 31 different films in 2012 and hopes to continue its success this year.
Four films will be screened during January at the Spread Eagle Pub in Katharine Street. Showings will take place on Mondays at 2.30pm and 8pm.
For the first time the campaign will be showing a documentary. Searching for Sugar Man tells the story about the fans of folk singer Sugar Man Rodriguez managed to track down their hero 40 years after he retired from the music business.
The documentary will be screened on Monday January 14. Take this Waltz will be show on January 21 and Shadow Dancer on January 28.
Campaign Chairman Adrian Winchester said: "Our screenings were a great success during 2012, with our November season attracting our highest attendances to date.
"They also boosted our membership, which has now reached 600. We will therefore continue to screen the sort of films our members enjoy, but our primary objective remains to see the David Lean Cinema reopened."
