Entrepreneurs asked to brave Richmond's Den

Entrepreneurs are being urged to enter ideas for new social enterprises.

Richmond’s Den, a joint venture by Richmond Council and the Richmond Social Enterprise Partnership, aims to encourage people with a business idea to take the first step.

Last year’s winner was Jigsaw Care Services Plus, a social care group, who pitched their proposals to a panel including Sir Trevor McDonald, John Bird and Anthony Thomson and MP Zac Goldsmith.

Winners receive a prize package worth £10,000 as well as recognition and mentoring to help develop the business further.

Councillor Pamela Fleming, cabinet member for community, business and culture said: “We want those people with an enterprise brewing in the back of their mind to take steps to make it a reality, and if they’ve already taken steps, to help them consolidate and grow further.

“Social entrepreneurs are so important, particularly at the moment, adding value to community beyond just the economic benefits of good business.

“I hope Richmond’s Den inspires many more people to follow their dreams into business.”

Entries should show how an idea could become viable and sustainable, or grow, while maintaining a focus on a social or environmental objective.

To enter outline the business idea or proposal in 500 words by 9am on May 7.
