Sutton Black History Group prepare for Black History Month

Preparations for Black History Month begin Preparations for Black History Month begin

Sutton Black History Group wants people to help them celebrate Black History Month.

This year’s celebration will be held from October 1 to 31 at venues across the borough.

The events will include food tasting, a music concert, exhibitions and much more.

It all kicks off on October 1 in the Europa gallery in Sutton library as they reflect on the history of slavery and learn about some prominent black icons that helped shape the world.

Look out for leaflets and posters for a full programme of activities about this year’s activities and events in the borough’s libraries.

Why a whole month instead of the usual day or week? Hope they can do it this year without banging on about the G word and trying to drum up agitators from all over to march down the High Street and intimidate the retail scene.
