The lead singer of a New Malden band who will top the bill at a charity gig tonight said coming back to Kingston will be like a homecoming show.
Bommerillo will be the star turn at the Grey Horse in Kingston as part of a nationwide month of gigs to raise money for charity Oxfam.
The country influenced five piece, who have played gigs and festivals across the country and reached number one in the Amazon country charts, will perform alongside support bands Elm Grove, Trio Spongo and Unexpected Items in Baggage Area.
Front man Ben Trevor, who was featured in the Surrey Comet when he climbed the highest tree in Surrey to raise money for the Royal Marsden hospital back in May, said the band got involved after impressing promoters Holster Media at a gig in Surbiton.
He said: "We were obviously quite good that night because they have asked us to top the bill for this special show.
"It is a fantastic charity to be involved with because they help out so many different people in so many different parts of the world.
"It is a great idea because the crowd get enthusiastic bands and have a great time, safe in the knowledge that all the money is going to a really good cause"
Carrie Holster from promoters Holster Media said Friday’s gig was shaping up to the best yet.
She said: “Bommerilo and the other guys are just absolutely fantastic bands and it really will be a great night.
“The bands and venues have been wonderful at giving up their time and space for free in aid of this great cause.”
Oxjam Kingston launched in July with Twisted Candy and continues with gigs at the Cricketers on October 5, the Victoria on October 18, and Dead Cassette and Anison at the Fighting Cocks on October 20.
Bommerillo, Grey Horse, Richmond Road, Kingston, Friday, September 28, doors open 7pm, £5, holstermedia.com, over 18s only.
