Student band Unknown have the chance to make the final of a national competition at the 02 Arena after triumphing in a battle of the bands contest.

Music course pupils from Westwood Girls’ College for Languages and Arts put on the regional heat at Scream Studios, Croydon on March 27.

The Blastbeat contest is aimed to give children from some of the more deprived areas of London a chance to express their talents while gaining valuable experience of the music business.

Unknown will take on 65 other bands at the semi-finals in June, with the best in each genre progressing to the 02 Arena final on July 13.
