Nicole Kidman got her big break in an Aussie miniseries
Nicole Kidman has revealed she owes her Hollywood career to TV.
The Oscar-winning actress is better known for starring on the big screen these days but she said it was appearing in television miniseries in her native Australia when she was younger that gave her her big break.
Nicole, 45, said: "Growing up in Australia, the miniseries was such a big, big thing. It was something that launched my career because I did miniseries in Australia.
"I did a thing called Bangkok Hilton and one called Vietnam, which was on the Vietnam War in the 60s and was a hugely rated show. That was my big break, really, as an actor."
Nicole - who is up for an Emmy for her lead role in the TV movie Hemingway And Gellhorn this year - said when it came to watching television as a child, her favourites were The Brady Bunch and Bewitched.
The Primetime Emmy Awards will be presented on September 23.
