A concert to celebrate safe zones created by young people across London took place in Brixton on Wednesday night.

CitySafe is a community-led campaign to tackle crime and reconnect fractured neighbourhoods.

Three Streatham shops are among 25 premises in Lambeth that have agreed to be CitySafe Havens and give refuge to people in danger.

South London Liberal Synagogue and Hyderi Islamic Centre, who are CitySafe members, hope to get more shopkeepers on board in a bid to make Streatham safer.

Synagogue member Lianna Etkind said: "It is about reaching out to some of the people who share our streets.

"It makes the streets a safer place for everybody."

All Aboard charity shop, Unikob The Stationer and Shoppers Delight newsagent are the safe havens in Streatham High Road.

About 2,000 people came to the concert, hosted by DJ Abrantee, at the O2 Academy Brixton.
