Lambeth Council pledges to pay all workers the living wage
Lambeth has committed to paying the living wage to its employees including school cleaners.
On Monday the cabinet approved an agreement to become a London Living Wage Employer by paying at least £8.31 per hour.
Council Leader Steve Reed said: "It is putting money in the pockets of some of the poorest people in our community.
"It is trying to make sure if you work you are not left living poverty."
A review is currently looking at the roles of nearly 50 school cleaners and staff earning less than the living wage.
There is also a review into six trainee social workers and three cleaners identified in a recent audit as being paid less than this.
Other staff and Lambeth Living employees, excluding apprentices, are already paid more than the living wage.
