Recruitment drive for snow wardens

Snow wardens are being recruited to blitz snow and ice from pavements this winter.

The council is looking to arm another hundred volunteers with shovels, grit, hi-visibility jackets and gloves to keep streets safe.

Councillor Pete Robbins, cabinet member for neighbourhood services, hoped the drive would take the total to over 300.

Coun Robbins said: "We are looking for more individuals as well as members of community groups to become Lambeth Snow Wardens and help keep our pavements and footpaths safer this Winter."

Training sessions for new recruits are in early November.
