The screening of a film created by two Streatham brothers was at the heart of London’s Black History Month celebrations.
Prominent members of London’s black community watched “Minority Report” at City Hall on October 9 - a film directed by Hamdi and Ludvig Bonin.
The docu-film was written out of a desire to challenge the stereotypes perpetuated about young black men in the media and featured leading black actors including David Harewood, Henry Bonsu, and Emmerdale star Samuel Anderson.
Streatham’s Labour parliamentary candidate Chuka Umunna even made an appearance having supported the project.
Hamdi Bonin said: “The media plays an important role in the representation of different communities within our society.
"Minority Report highlights that there is a greater need for the media to take this responsibility more seriously when it pertains to young black men.
“The mainstream media seems to have a lack of understanding about the multifaceted aspects of what it means to be young black man.”
The Bonin brothers are hoping to make the film available to view online.
