An hour-long vigil is being held in memory of the dog which was locked in a cage and savagely burnt alive under a tower block.
Residents of Roehampton’s Alton estate and creators of Facebook group “name and shame the sick ******** that burnt that poor dog alive!!”, which now has more than 7,700 members, will hold the vigil at the site of the rottweiler’s brutal killing on Monday.
Wandsworth police have yet to track down two boys aged between 14 and 15 who were seen to throw petrol over the dog before running away from the bin shelter under Shalden House, in Tunworth Crescent, Roehampton, on July 2.
A Metropolitan Police spokeswoman said the owner of the rottweiler, which was heard yelping and barking as it burned to death between 10.30pm and 11pm, had since been traced to Streatham.
Administrator of the Facebook group, Chris Hirst, said: “The one hour vigil will take place outside Shalden House on Monday, August 2, beginning at 8pm. The vigil will end at 9pm with a minute of silent reflection to remember Kairn (believed to be the dog’s name).”
Anyone with information about the killing should call Wandsworth police on 0300 1231212.
