Pupils from a Streatham girls school have returned from a trip to Mount Everest.
The seven sixth form students from Streatham and Clapham High School trekked to the base camp at the world’s second-highest peak, hitting altitudes higher than 5,000m.
The party undertook rigorous training prior to their flight to Nepal in July.
Some of the group, which included school staff and Boys’ Brigade group the 11th Croydon Battalion, conquered 5,545m peak Kala Pattar during the trip.
Headteacher Sue Mitchell said: “We encourage our girls to meet challenges and stretch themselves, but this is an achievement which exceeds expectations.”
