Despite the weather, nearly 1,000 people flocked to a rainy Streatham Common on Saturday to attend the Streatham Festival 2012 finale.
The festival ran from Thursday 5 to Sunday 8 July with flagship Sparks Fly Fire show on Saturday night including a fireworks display and a parade.
Earlier that day There was a lantern-making workshop on the Saturday afternoon where youngsters made their lanterns ready for the parade.
Helen Smith, one of the organisers of the event said: "This was the highlight of the Festival, with lots of high quality community artwork, where local people and community groups were able to take part and get involved with this year's activities. "The Ninja Knitters and the Chalkers created a huge buzz around the town with their yarn bombing and chalk pictures to draw attention to the Festival's events"
There were also music events and an art exhibition at the Streatham Festival Shop, including the Beetles Shuttles and Bombs, run by Kathy Schicker.
Mrs Schicker, 37, worked with local schools and community groups to create the installation using a wide variety of techniques to conjure up the magic of fire.
She said: "It has been a very successful process all round. I am a textiles designer and I have delivered workshops like this for many many, years.
"It has been a really good project to work on. I am really happy with how it has all gone and the groups I worked with were brilliant. We all had a lot of fun."
