Two drugs users were taken to hospital yesterday after being found near the Rookery in Streatham Common.

Police said the men, aged 30 and 33, “suffered injuries as a result of recreational drug use” but their condition was not being treated as life threatening.

Police and the London Ambulance service were both called to reports of an alleged assault just before 7am yesterday, at the junction between Covington Way and Streatham Common.

But Lambeth police said further investigation revealed drug use caused the injuries.

One resident said the Rookery was cordoned off with police tape yesterday midmorning and about six policemen attended the scene.
