Labour’s MP for Dulwich and West Norwood concluded ‘job done’ as she announced her resignation from the shadow cabinet last week.

Dame Tessa Jowell aims to work more for her constituency when she steps down as shadow minister for London and the Olympics after the party conference.

Dame Tessa said: ‘Having been part of the delivering the Olympics it is now job done after 10 years.

"It has been a privilege to have served in Government and as part of Ed Miliband’s Shadow Cabinet.

"I’m looking forward to working more for my constituency and supporting the causes I care passionately about like London Citizens’ CitySafe Campaign’."

Dame Tessa as Olympics minister played a role in winning the bid to host the Games in 2005. She is also chair of the CitySafe Foundation, which sustains a community-focused campaign led by young citizens to tackle crime and the fear of crime.
