Two mothers of murdered sons spoke of the need to bring change to young people’s lives during an “inspiring” week-long peace festival.

The Little Big Peace Event, in various locations across Streatham, included showings, talks, live music and workshops.

Mothers Grace Idowu and Margaret Mizen, whose sons were fatally stabbed in 2008, gave a talk about their determination to bring change by speaking to students and young offenders.

The festival was inspired by Peace One Day – an international campaign that calls for a global ceasefire on September 21.

Festival founder Mel Larsen said: “The fantastic turn-out and positive feedback to our events this week has shown us that the people of Streatham really care about peace and want to take action in some way.

"Rather than boring everyone with a worthy, tired old debate, we've shown that peace can actually be fun, moving and inspiring.

“Its been an amazing week with all events well attended and feedback has been overwhelmingly positive.”
