Dons midfielder Steven Gregory is hoping a little FA Cup magic falls on Stadium MK on Sunday and produces a shock result.

The Bournemouth loanee would also like to see the club’s supporters rewarded for their unwavering backing of the side through their recent poor League Two form.

And despite the fact Gregory’s loan period ends on December 16, he will be giving everything to reach the third round.

“Being the underdog will work in our favour – it’s happened a million times before in the FA Cup where the underdog causes a shock, there are always upsets,” he said.

“They have everything to lose and we have nothing to lose – that is always going to work in your favour.”

He added: “The fans here are fantastic and they travel all over the country to support us. But I utterly understand and respect the decision of the fans who don’t want to go.”

However much the players talk about concentration and remaining calm, Gregory admits the excitement levels are rising.

“Because of our league position, every league game is so important as we try to pick up points, but however we dress it down, Sunday is a massive game and one that I am excited about playing in.

“But we all need to stay relaxed, otherwise we could tense up and not perform.

“I think I can guarantee it is going to be a big day – whatever the result.”
