January: Kingston-based triathlete Vanessa Raw reveals a fresh bid to claim a place at the London 2012 Olympics – but her quest failed.

February: New Malden’s Tom Onslow-Cole is named in the Team eBay Motors line-up for the British Touring Car Championships and celebrates with a podium finish in the opening race of the season at Brands Hatch in April.

March: Surbiton Ladies won the Women’s Hockey Conference East and then gain promotion via the play-offs a month later

April: Tiffin Girls’ School student and Coombe Hill Golf Club member Inci Mehmet fought off a bout of food poisoning to add the Surrey Ladies County Championship to the Surrey Junior Girls U18 Championship she won earlier in the month and complete a rare double.

May: Kingston Wildcats men and women’s teams were crowned Surrey champions and Kingston-based Chris Robshaw skippers Harlequins to the Premiership crown.

June: Kingstonian boss Alan Dowson reveals he almost quit Kingstonian  for good during a season that saw Ks finish a disappointing 11th in the Ryman Premier League table, lose to Hendon in the London Senior Cup final and the manager miss five weeks due to a kidney problem.
