Rosslyn Park coach Jan Bonney could not hide his disappointment after watching his charges go down 36-21 at Cinderford.

The defeat leaves Park 12 points off the summit of National League One, and only a single point ahead of fourth-placed Esher.

Ed Lewis-Pratt bagged two tries, and Ross Laidlaw added 11 points with the boot, but they could not prevent Park extending a worrying run of one win in five games.

Bonney said:  “We missed too many tackles and needlessly made too many errors under pressure. Cinderford are a good side and the conditions were tough, but the defeat is disappointing, especially as there were only three points between us at the break.

“It is not a question of the players not being good enough, they are plenty good enough. But some are making individual mistakes, not being where they are meant to be at certain phases of play and at this level that gets punished.”

He added: “The run we’re on at the moment is worrying, but it is all about having the right mind-set. We’ve lost our last three away games so it is a challenge for me and the players to turn it around.”

Park host struggling Cambridge this weekend hoping to kick-start their faltering league campaign, and despite Cambridge winning only three games so far this season, Bonney is not expecting an easy match.

“We should be beating Cambridge, especially on the good surface we have at home. But they will not make it easy for us, they know our form right now, and we are going to have to work doubly hard.”

After returning from holiday, Hugo Ellis is available for selection.
