Williams already excited by prospect of Man Utd trip
CRYSTAL Palace youngster Jonny Williams is looking forward to finally making his Old Trafford bow after the international break.
The Welsh wizard heads to the Theatre of Dreams on September 14 buoyed by the Eagles’ maiden Premier League win over Sunderland at Selhurst Park.
Old Trafford holds mixed memories for Williams, as the 19-year-old was set to start the League Cup tie in 2011 but was cruelly denied an appearance after breaking his leg on international duty weeks before the game.
The Eagles went on to notch a famous 2-1 victory that night and Williams hopes that he can play his part this time around.
He said: “I’m looking forward to the United game because I was really disappointed to miss the League Cup game a couple of years ago.
“But we showed then we could go to Old Trafford and beat them, so hopefully we can take heart from that.
“It was a great night and if we play like we did against Sunderland, then I think we can really put up a fight against them.”
Williams came on as a second half substitute in Saturday’s 3-1 success over the Black Cats and the Welshman was delighted to get those first three points on the board after two straight Premier League defeats.
“It’s a bit relief for all of us because we have been playing well and it is about time we had some points to show for it,” he said.
“We played really well from start to finish.
“It’s a great feeling, we’re all buzzing and bouncing up and down.
“We had chance after chance today and we showed that we can really pass the ball and we got into a good rhythm and if we can play like that for the majority of games then we will pick up a few more wins.
“It was huge to get a win going into the international break because we have got two tough games coming up.”
