Ironman Browning up to 22nd in the world rankings
Ironman Andrew Browning is now ranked 22nd in the world in the 18-24 age group after a fine showing at the World Championships in Hawaii last weekend.
The 21-year-old, a coach at Epsom District Swimming Club, completed the 2.4-mile swim (56 minutes, 18 seconds), 112-mile bike ride (five hours, 12 minutes, 46 seconds) and marathon (3.45:35) in 10.02.39.
Browning placed 647th overall - out of 2,131 competitors - but the UK's number one pipped Canadian Simon Gagnon-Brassard by 16 seconds to take 22nd in his age group.
He said: "I am really pleased with the way the race unfolded. It was only my second Ironman so all in all I could not be happier with the result."
Browning supports the Brain Tumour Charity and is keen to find a major sponsor to help him with his training.
