Crystal Palace boss Tony Pulis has capped a fine season by being named Premier League manager of the year.

Pulis guided Palace from rock bottom and with just four points in November to a final resting place of 11th in May.

The 56-year-old scooped the award at the League Managers Association end of season dinner on Monday night, ahead of Liverpool's Brendan Rodgers, who was named the LMA manager of the year.

Despite finishing 11th with a record of one defeat in the final eight games of the season, Pulis believes the work has only just begun.

He said: "This is a community club based in the most densely populated area in London and has a great opportunity of pushing forward.

“We’ve got to stay in the Premier League for the next two or three years to realise what we can eventually achieve. We have to look forward and say this is the way we will go and do it."
