Ricky enjoys Matchroom Sport high life
Ricky Boylan had to pull out of Wednesday’s fight with a stress fracture in his leg, but he is still getting plenty of media exposure.
The Carshalton light welterweight boxer joined Eddie Hearn’s Matchroom Sport in January after winning the Southern Area title against fellow Carshalton fighter Tony Owen.
He has since vacated the belt to concentrate on a WBC crown, and this week’s fight was meant to be a stepping stone in that direction.
Boylan tweeted: “Absolutely gutted to announce that I’ve pulled out of the fight due to a stress fracture of my anterior distal tibia.
“I left it as long as I could hoping it would heal in time, thinking it was shin splints but unfortunately it’s worse than we first thought.”
Despite his withdrawal, Boylan is loving life with Matchroom.
He said: “It is a different world with Matchroom, because you get so much more publicity and exposure, and you get looked after so well.
“I’ve boxed live on Sky since signing for them and I am getting my name out there so much quicker.”
