The Colets’ Men’s squash stars have European domination in their sights after claiming a 13th National Club Squash Championsahip title on Sunday.

The Thames Ditton-based club’s beat Edgbaston Priory 3-2 in the final thanks to match wins from Scott Handley, Richie Fallows and Mark Cairns.

The triumph sees them qualify for the European Championships in Nottingham later this year and they will hope home advantage will see them to a better finish than the fourth place they secured 12 months ago.

“I would like to give my thanks to the team manager, David Peck for coordinating our participation in this competition and the team for playing their best, both on and off the court,” said Colets general manager Giodarno Orsini.

“The National Club Squash Championships is a much anticipated event for all of our competing squash teams and this has been a record year for them in terms of achievements and final results.

“We look forward to giving our best at the European Championships.”

Colets’ women also secured automatic qualification for the Europeans despite a 5-0 final defeat to defending champions Pontefract.

There were runners-up finishes for the club’s over 35 women’s team and the men’s over 45 and over 55 squads.
