Warming to the task: George Nash, left, is pleased how the Team GB men's four is shaping up

Molesey Boat Club’s George Nash has warned men’s four rivals Australia his crew has plenty more in the tank this summer.

Nash and fellow Molesey men Andrew Triggs Hodge and Moe Sbihi, of Surbiton, teamed up with Alex Gregory to win the European Championships earlier this month.

And the quartet won again at the second World Cup regatta of the summer in France last Sunday as they triumphed by more than a length ahead of the Australian and Canadian crews.

The Team GB rowing squad head to Lucerne next month for the final World Cup before the World Championships, which start on July 17.

And Nash expects Britain’s top ranked boat to be even stronger by then.

George Nash said: “That was better than our last regatta, but I think we’ve got a bit more in there.

“Racing conditions are very different mentally than training and it’s really all about creating in racing what we can do in training.

“It’s great to row with these guys.”

Triggs Hodge added: “We have stepped on since the European Championships and we have more confidence in our plan.

“Every race we are getting closer to what we are capable of.”

Molesey’s James Foad and Elmbridge Boat Club’s Matt Tarrant were in the men’s eight that finished fourth, while Molesey’s Ruth Walczak won a women’s single sculls silver medal.

Walczak, a world championship bronze medallist in the same event last year, said: “The big goal was to leave everything I had on the lake.If you do that and you finish first, second or last you can’t be upset.”
