Danny Parsons is confident his big fight experience can bring another boxing belt back to Kingston ahead of his Queensbury Boxing League national lightweight title showdown next month.

The undefeated 20-year-old will put his growing reputation on the line on July 12, when he faces Cambridge stylist Sammy Oppong-Konadu at Alexandra Palace.

The Kingston fighter was last in action back in April at the Epsom Downs Racecourse when he sealed another impressive performance in the fourth defence of his southern area title by dominating challenger Hassan Abdi to secure another well deserved victory.

And Parsons will again put all of his hard work to the test next time out in potentially his toughest fight to date.

“This is definitely the biggest fight of my career so far at the Alexandra Palace, and I’m not going to let all the hard work and sacrifices I’ve made getting here go to waste,” he said.

“This will be my sixth appearance in the league since joining the competition and I’ve yet to taste defeat while winning and defending the regional crown.

“But this will be a step up for me and I’m going to be more than ready for this.”

Parsons has becomed one of the televised league’s biggest draws since joining the compeition as a 19-year-old, having appeared on British Eurosport numerous times.

And he is confident his next assignment will again produce the type of fireworks fans have come to expect.

“When I get into that ring I just want to give the fans value for money,” added the ex-Teddington School student.

“From the little I know about Konadu I can expect a good fight as he’s had a similar amount of fights to me and I here he’s a good technical boxer.

“But I’ve been in the league a long time now and experienced the big fight hype, the TV camera’s and the bright lights, which could be a big factor in me coming back to Kingston with another belt.”
