Roehampton's Moatez Jomni admits he owes all of his success to "second wife" Jenny Archer after storming to gold at the IPC Athletics World Championships.

Jomni, 24, burst onto the international stage last week with bronze in the T53 800m.

And his dream summer has only got better after tasting gold over 400m, following French athlete Pierre Fairbank’s disqualification for a lane infringement.

The gold would have been even sweeter if not for that but Jomni insists he still feels like a winner – with coaches Archer and Paralympic champion David Weir behind his success.

Jomni trains at the Weir Archer Academy in Kingston and with this first trip to the podium under his belt, he doesn’t want the gold rush to end now.

“I’m very delighted my first gold professional medal, I’m very proud and it’s unreal right now,” said Jomni, who is being supported by Sainsbury’s, a proud sponsor of the British Paralympic Association and its athletes all the way to Rio 2016.

“I really wanted the gold and it is a shame it came from a DQ. I’d prefer to be a champion the right way. He has a lot more experience than me.

"But I don’t know how others feel to get their first gold medal, I’m so proud.

“It’s all hard work, I pushed through and especially around the bend in the 200m.

“Jenny Archer puts me in shape, she’s like my second wife really – she’s in my head all the time, focus mode, do this do that. And on the other side I’ve got David (Weir) in my head, who’s saying go for it.

“Having David on board is such a privilege, a rare privilege. The man knows his stuff and he just passes it through – I’m trying to pass on his legacy.”

Sainsbury’s is proud to support British Athletics through the Summer Series events and is committed to helping young people lead healthier, more active lifestyles. For more information visit www.sainsburys.co.uk/legacy.
