Warnock: We don't know when we are beaten

Neil Warnock praised the never-say-die attitude of his team on Saturday as Neil Danns' injury-time winner gave them a 2-1 win over Scunthorpe United.

The Eagles were second best for most of the game and should have been two goals down inside the opening 10 minutes but for woeful finishing by Grant McCann and Cliff Byrne.

They regrouped after the break though and Darren Ambrose put them ahead before Marcus Williams was sent off.

David Mirfin looked to have snatched a point with his 82nd minute header but up popped Danns in the third minute of time added on to curl home from the edge of the box.

"We don't know when we are beaten," said Warnock.

"We give everything and I think in this league you have to go to Scunthorpe like you have to go to Newcastle.

"It's the same thing, different conditions and different style of play, but you have to compete and I am delighted to continue our good run."

Warnock admitted his side were lucky no to be behind in the first half but was pleased with the display of defender Matt Lawrence, who was frozen out of the squad for three months after his horror show against the Iron in September's 4-0 home loss.

"I thought they were better than us in the first half simply because they were more physical than us," he said.

"I didn't think we stood up to them enough, we were what I used to call southern softies in the olden days when I was up north.

"We hung in there though with the defenders and I thought Lawrence was absolutely outstanding today, I thought he was 10 out of 10."

"By the time they equalised it should have been all over really, Kieran Djilali had two great chances, if Gary Hooper has them chances they are goals.

"With Darren's goal there is only him on the pitch who would have scored that and then Danns provided a bit of magic.

"It was a great finish and it needs to be beat a keeper like Joe Murphy.

"In the end I thought we had that little bit of extra quality and it showed with the goals."
