Midfielder Toumani Diagouraga’s pre-season form for Brentford is Peterborough United’s loss, according to boss Andy Scott.
The Frenchman spent a successful half-season loan spell at Griffin Park as the Bees finished ninth in League One, at the same time Posh were being relegated from the Championship.
His permanent switch on a three-year deal earlier this month raised some eyebrows not least from the Brentford chief, who was surprised Peterborough counterpart Gary Johnson deemed him surplus to requirements.
The 23-year-old has been in fine form in games against Tonbridge Angels, Staines Town and Tuesday’s 4-0 win at Woking, and his new manager couldn’t be happier to have him on board.
“I was very surprised he was allowed to join us, because he did so well for us last year in League One and proved his quality at this level,” he said.
“The one game Gary came to watch was probably Toumani best game for us all season, but maybe he saw something a bit differently.
“They’ve brought in some new players, so their loss is our gain I suppose in that respect.”
