Director of rugby Dean Richards has acted to solve NEC Harlequins' fly-half crisis by signing Craig McMullen.
With Andrew Mehrtens facing six weeks on the sidelines after a knee operation, McMullen goes straight into the squad for Saturday's home Guinness Premiership game with one of his former clubs, Leicester Tigers (6.15pm).
McMullen, 33, has previous Premiership experience with Bristol in 1999-2000, Leicester in 2002-03 and Leeds Tykes in 2004-05 He was part of the Leeds squad that defeated Bath in the 2005 Powergen Cup Final.
McMullen has also represented the ACT Brumbies in the Super 12s, Bordeaux-Begles and Narbonne in the European Challenge Cup, and was part of the ASM Clermont Avergne squad that competed in last season's Heineken Cup.
